At Richmond Bathrooms, all of our bathroom electrical work is carried out by experienced professionals who meet all regulations and safety standards. We can install new bathroom lighting, electric showers, extractor fans and underfloor heating. All electrical installations will be certified to comply with building regulations. For ultimate peace of mind, all our electricians are registered with NICEIC (National Inspection Council for Electrical Installation Contracting).

When planning a new bathroom it is particularly important to consider the regulations that divide the bathroom into zones depending on their electrical risk. These zones reflect the increased danger to you from electrical appliances and electricity. Water and electricity make a potentially lethal combination. These zones and the instructions published in the Wiring Regulations are designed to keep you safe. At Richmond Bathrooms we can explain how to work with electricity safely and within the law in your bathroom.

Building regulations

Part P of the building regulations specifies that ‘Locations containing a bath tub or shower basin’ are considered ‘special locations’ and any electrical work taking place in these areas needs to be notified to Building control.

Electrical sockets are allowed inside bathrooms and wetrooms, but they must be located at least 3 metres away from the outer edge of your shower or bath. Sockets used specifically for electric razors are an exception due to their advanced technology, so they can be installed no closer than 60cm within zone 2.

We will guide you through this process to ensure that having your bathroom electricals installed is a stress-free experience.
